A Project Manager (PM) guides a project from conception to completion. The goal of a project manager is to communicate effectively with internal production staff, clients, and project stakeholders to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to a high standard. A project manager coordinates team members to ensure tasks are completed on time and within budget, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Project Managers work cross-functionally and communicate with all parties involved in a project. Project Managers plan, designate, and task project resources, prepare budgets, monitor progress, and keep stakeholders informed. The PM is responsible for ensuring that each project is completed on time and to the highest standard, including drafting, field work, and quality control. The PM verifies schedules for drafting and fieldwork, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, legal requirements, and correct calculations.
Role and responsibilities
- Organize and plan project tasks, schedules, and coordinate multiple projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget.
- Manage tasks effectively and within the company’s established standards.
- Responsible for the record-keeping and documentation of assigned projects.
- Responsible for plotting and checking drawings.
- Optimize project deliverables, schedule, and budgeting.
- Provide top-notch customer service and communication to clients.
- Reviewing, commenting on, and providing quality assurance and control for assigned projects.
- Schedule and track project work, including drafting and fieldwork tasks.
- Track project budgets and manage deadlines, addressing client needs and concerns; proactively communicate schedule delays and issues to clients; and maintain records and documentation of project requirements.
- Provides oversight, guidance, and leadership support to managers, drafters, and field teams
- Help advance production efficiency using systems and process improvements, training, mentoring, and staff professional development.
- Downloads and processes field data in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Edit and finalize technical drawings, including required modifications and updates to drawings.
- Assisting in establishing CAD standards and utilizing these standards to minimize the hours required to complete a task.
- Analyze sketches, notes, and other input material to determine the best approach.
- Analyze sketches, drawings, notes, and/or verbal information supplied by the engineer, surveyor, technician, or designer to determine the most appropriate views, detail drawings, and supplementary information needed to complete assignments.
- Works with the Accounts Receivable team in a timely manner to verify that invoicing and collections are performed correctly and efficiently.
- Utilized Kudurru Stone reports to improve processes, services, or profitability.
- Encourage growth and staff satisfaction by providing guidance and support to employees; aid employees with demanding customers and situations by coaching them and consistently demonstrating effective and professional communication with internal staff and external customers.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of mathematics, mathematical tables, and computations applicable to the work.
- Thorough knowledge of principles, practices, and materials used in utilities locate/survey work.
- Thorough knowledge of utilities, locating/surveying instruments and equipment, and their use and care.
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
- Computer Skills (MS Word, Excel, Project, etc.).
- Minimum five years of relevant experience in producing and/or overseeing the production of utilities locate/survey deliverables.
- Experience in using GPR/RF designating technologies.
- Experience in using survey equipment and software is a plus.

Physical Demands
The familiar work environment for this position is an indoor business office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently sit, talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; and will occasionally stoop, kneel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk and can lift a light weight of under 25 lbs. for a short time. Availability/Schedule
The schedule is Monday through Friday.
Travel
This role will require some travel to job sites or local areas for meetings.
